Fisher Arnold is seeking a Technical Writer for the Memphis, TN office. The Technical Writer will assist the Electrical Department in the creation and editing documents. The position will plan, design, write, edit, proofread and prepare documents for customers. Documents may consist of technical manuals, orders, specifications, test plans, procedures, results, or modification work orders. The position requires a high attention to detail. The person best suited for this role will possess the ability to proofread exceptionally well and enjoy technical writing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Interface with technical professionals in the writing, editing, and publication of various types of documents such as specifications, reports, and plans.
§ Assist teams in determining material and contract requirements for engineering projects.
§ Work with project managers in project meetings and other coordination efforts with clients. Develop specifications from meetings as the project develops.
§ Enhance and maintain all master specifications according to quality assurance standards.
§ Track and monitor the flow of all documents from inception to distribution of final copies. Continuously identify and correct problem areas as they arise.
§ Provide quality assurance monitoring for all document deliverables.
§ Utilize appropriate computer software for document editing, continually seek ways to improve the document process electronically.
§ Establish and maintain electronic and/or hardcopy data library of documents.
Education and Professional Certifications
§ Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience in writing, editing and managing technical documentation
Knowledge and Experience
§ 3-5 years of experience performing technical writing work
§ 3-5 years of experience operating word processing programs
§ Engineering or consulting industry experience preferred
§ Microsoft Office (emphasis on Word, and Microsoft Project)
§ Proficient in the use of WordPerfect a plus
§ Strong attention to detail is required
§ Ability to meet deadlines and work calmly under time constraints
§ Must be able to conceptualize, format, structure, write, and edit specifications, modification work orders, test plans, procedures and results
§ Excellent written communication skills; working knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications, organization skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work required
