Are you a graduate considering completing your teacher training? But first wanting to gain some experience in a similar role and ensure teaching right for you?

I am working with a special school in Leeds, who are looking for a cover supervisor to become part of their internal team.

A cover supervisor is responsible for leading preplanned lessons across all the departments and managing students' behaviour, in line with the school's behaviour and safeguarding policy.

The school are dedicated to supporting the successful applicant with their career progression, through the alliances with teacher training. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain experience in a selected department, to support with their career progression.

This post is full time, Monday - Friday, during school term times, however, for the right applicant the school would consider part time of 3- 4days.

This role offers the potential to progress to an unqualified teacher, leading to increased pay, or a place on a teacher training programme.

Requirements for this role:

-          Hold some experience working with young people, ideally aged 11 - 18 years. Work specifically in schools is ideal however, other relevant roles is considered, such as, youth work or coaching.

-          Have successfully graduated or be currently studying toward a degree.

-          Be confident to lead full classes of students.

-          Have good behaviour management and de-escalation skills, with a calm and resilient persona.

-          Be adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

-          Available at least three days a week from February 2024.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
