Join our dedicated team in Leicester as a Social Worker, focusing on Single Assessments. This role is crucial for evaluating referrals to determine the level of need or risk for children and families. You will work in a dynamic environment that requires strong analytical skills and a compassionate approach.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Evaluate referrals to assess the level of need or risk for children and families.
  • Build relationships through home visits, interviews, and direct work with children.
  • Liaise with professionals such as teachers, GPs, health visitors, and police to gather relevant information.
  • Assess parental capacity, environmental factors, and family dynamics to identify risks and protective factors.
  • Investigate concerns of significant harm and incorporate findings into the Single Assessment.
  • Write detailed assessments that inform Child Protection Conferences, Children in Care Reviews, and other statutory meetings.
  • Ensure assessments are completed within the required timeframe—typically within 10 to 40 days, depending on urgency.
  • Apply critical thinking and evidence-based practice to make decisions in complex and sensitive situations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a social worker in a fast-paced front door team.
  • Experience with court work.
  • Proficient in family assessments.
  • Knowledge of Signs of Safety intervention models and trauma-informed practices.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage professional relationships and support families.
  • Must have a driving licence and car.
