Accountant - Schools Finance (Interim)
Location: Haringey Council
Contract Length: 3+ Months
Pay Rate: £400-£450 per day (umbrella, DOE)

About the Role:
Haringey Council is seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant to join the Finance team on an interim basis, focusing on Schools Finance. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong knowledge of the local government sector to provide high-impact support during a key period.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, customer-focused financial support, analysis, and modelling to schools and education services.
Provide expert financial advice to support schools in decision-making, budget setting, and financial management.
Maintain and update accounting records to ensure timely and accurate management and statutory reporting.
Support the development of the council's framework for financial reporting, forecasting, and control, across both revenue and capital budgets.
Identify, assess, and contribute to the resolution of financial issues and risks.
Assist with statutory reporting requirements from the Department for Education (DfE), including compliance with Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) and schools deficit recovery protocols.
Essential Requirements:
Local government experience, ideally within a London borough.
Strong knowledge of school finance, including Dedicated Schools Grant, DfE statutory reporting, and schools deficit recovery plans.
Proven experience supporting schools with budget setting, monitoring, and financial reporting.
Strong communication and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to solving complex financial challenges.
Pay and Duration:
Rate: £400-£450 per day (umbrella, dependent on experience)
Contract: Initial 3-month assignment, with potential for extension
Working arrangements: Hybrid/flexible working may be considered
