Assistant Underwriter

Assistant Underwriter Leeds City Centre Salary up to £27,000 + Bonus Are you looking to develop your career within Underwriting? My client, a global Insurance company have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Underwriter to join their team based in Leeds. You will work as part of their Renewal's Connect team providing an underwriting service for brokers in the UK. You will be required to develop and maintain good relationships internally and externally, monitor and analyse broker activity to identify success and any areas for improvement. You will have responsibility for renewals and mid-term queries. My client can offer a great career path upwards to Underwriter/Senior Underwriter along with funding and support for your CII qualification. Duties of Assistant Underwriter: * Provide and maintain a good level of underwriting, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of company guidelines and authority levels in order to achieve defined objectives * Underwriting risks in accordance within own personal level of underwriting authority * Ensure incoming calls to the team are answered promptly and professionally * Diarise and follow up renewals with brokers with the purpose of securing and retaining business * Review broker generated activities and encourage broker to deal with the company by highlighting product benefits and negotiating terms * Manage renewal cases working as appropriate with the broker to secure renewal and upsell/ cross-sell additional covers * Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the Technical teams in Leeds and the wider business * Assisting the team and wider business with ad hoc projects Essential: * Proven relevant insurance experience and technical skills * Excellent written, spoken communication and numerical skills * A high level of accuracy and attention to detail * Demonstrable IT skills including MS Office * Be studying for/or be willing to study for CII qualifications Benefits: * 25 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays, with the opportunity to buy / sell extra leave. * Company matched pension scheme, private medical and dental cover, life assurance, travel insurance cover, income protection, a cycle2work scheme, season ticket loan, Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), parental, adoption and shared parental leave pay…..and plenty more. * Voluntary benefits designed to suit your lifestyle - from discounts on retail and socialising, to health & wellbeing, travel and technology. * The possibility of working from both the office and from home, flexible working or other options are available. * You'll get the chance to follow your chosen career path anywhere within the company CLD Recruitment (Leeds) Ltd is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
