Teaching Assistant / Learning Mentor – Primary

The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant / Learning Mentor to join a friendly and inclusive primary academy in the Guildford area. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s learning, development, and emotional wellbeing.
Working closely with class teachers and the wider pastoral team, the successful candidate will provide targeted academic and social support to pupils, both within the classroom and through small group or one-to-one interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils’ learning across the curriculum under the direction of the class teacher
- Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning and build confidence
- Provide pastoral and emotional support to pupils who may need additional guidance
- Help to create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils with SEND, EAL, or additional learning needs
- Assist with classroom organisation, resources, and behaviour support
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in line with school expectations
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children in a primary school or similar setting
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupils’ welfare
- Relevant qualifications or training are desirable but not essential
