We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Housing Support Worker to help make a real difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness.

Position: Housing Support Worker
Location: Southend-on-Sea
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays on a rota basis)
Salary: £21,575 – £23,500 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract: Permanent

About the roleAs a Housing Support Worker, you’ll play a vital part in supporting people to move away from homelessness and towards independence. Working as part of our housing management team, you will:
- Provide practical advice and support on tenancy sustainment, welfare rights, health, and life skills.
- Carry out needs assessments, support planning, and case reviews to ensure personalised and effective support.
- Build positive relationships with residents, creating a welcoming and safe environment.
- Support residents to improve their wellbeing, including managing mental health, physical health, or substance misuse issues.
- Encourage the development of independent living skills such as budgeting, cooking, and personal care.
- Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with health & safety, housing benefit, and data protection requirements.
- Work with partner agencies to ensure residents receive the support they need.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same, requiring energy, flexibility, and a real commitment to supporting others.
About youWe’re looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in providing person-centred support, ideally with people facing homelessness or complex needs.
- Confident in assessing needs and risks, and skilled at developing multi-agency support plans.
- Organised, adaptable, and resilient in a busy environment.
- A strong communicator, able to build trust and motivate others.
- Comfortable working evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
- Enthusiastic about working in a psychologically informed environment and creative in their approach to service delivery.
A relevant qualification (such as NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, Housing, or IAG) would be an advantage, but a positive attitude and commitment to helping others are just as important.
