Contracts Manager - Building Solutions North (Bromsgrove)

JOB TYPE: Permanent

SALARY: £35000 - £65000/annum

Tasks Responsibilities:

Support and inspire project teams

• Provide early identification of key aspects of a project to avert problems

• Optimise site team and communicate roles via a site organogram

• Promote sharing of 'best practice' across projects

• Adopt 'mentor' role to promote staff development

• Initiate project internal review meetings where required

• Manage staff problems and refer upwards when necessary

• Focus on key performance elements such as safety, costs, programme and quality

Monitor Project Progress and Procedures

• Ensure company procedures are being followed

• Chair monthly Project Reviews

• Know the Contract requirements and ensure compliance

• Ensure site Health and Safety Plan is complied with and individual responsibilities are defined.

• Ensure site Quality Plan is completed

• Audit all procedures

• Follow up actions on Quality Management Audit Report

• Follow up actions on Safety Advisers Report

• Work with supply chain to establish effective relationship

Recruit and Develop Staff

• Interview and recruit new staff

• Identify and encourage staff training

• Identify future managers

• Work with Senior Team to recommend promotion of staff when appropriate

• Identify when staff may benefit from a change in role in order to expand their experience

• Give support to newly promoted or new starters

Client Liaison

• Emphasise importance of Client satisfaction to site teams

• Identify and report when Client is dissatisfied

• Follow up issues arising from Customer Care Surveys

• Develop relationships with Clients and Consultants

• Ensure regular Client contact through meetings

• Portray professional image to Clients

• Manage resolution of snagging and defects

Tender and Pre-Contract

• Assist in tender process with buildability, value engineering, cost and programme

• Participate in tender interviews and presentations

• Assist in tender adjudication

• Provide support at pre-contract stage to site team

• Identify staffing requirements

• Be involved in early design meetings to ensure that the contract requirements are reflected in the design

• Attend key subcontractor interviews

Business Support

• Provide support to SMT in running of the department

• Assist in Marketing and Client relations with BDM/CDM

• Assist in delegation of tasks

• Co-operate on new initiatives

• Flexibly undertake new and varied tasks assigned



Masters level degree in a construction related discipline.

Professional Membership:

MCIOB or equivalent.
