Senior Project Manager

We are working with a public sector organisation in London who are looking for a Senior Project Manager to help support the team in their BAU operations.

Core deliverables of this post include:

  • To make a key contribution to Transformation through the provision of a professional central project management resource to support the delivery of Girlguiding’s strategic plan.
  • To drive large-scale complex projects nationally across Girlguiding
  • To ensure smooth transition of project deliverables into ‘business as usual’ operation through the development of effective documentation, training materials and communication techniques.
  • To understand the business requirements of staff and members, and to support them through the initiation phase of any new projects, using professional project management methodologies in a proactive manner to determine outcomes and benefits and ensure they are achieved.
  • To manage and have ownership for projects, across the organisation, ensuring adherence to quality, cost, and time criteria.
  • To help develop and promote fit for purpose project management techniques and documentation for use across Girlguiding.
  • To take ownership of risks, and be accountable for identifying, assessing, and reporting risks and issues as they arise.
  • To lead and support people in the delivery of new projects and promote project management approaches across the organisation.
  • Evening/weekend working, and calls required, at a minimum of twice a month over 12 months, for which time off in lieu will be given.

Required skills/experience includes:

  • Proven ability in successfully managing large and complex projects using waterfall and agile methodologies such as PRINCE2 and Scrum
  • A disciplined and formal project management-based approach towards creating and maintaining effective support documentation in accordance with project governance techniques and requirements
  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills including at senior levels and present both written and verbal
  • Proven staff management skills, to include leading on project management CPD for others
  • A degree and/or professional qualification in project management (e.g. APM PMQ, Chartered Project Professional ChPP, Professional Scrum Master or Certified Agile / Lean Practitioner)
