Housing Allocations Officer

Office location – Milton Keynes – remote working

Up to £37k per annum

3 month FTC with the view to going permanent

ENB are supporting their housing client who are seeking a Housing Allocations Officer to join their team on a full time, permanent basis.

Within this role, this person will be supporting the delivery of housing management services working with Local Authorities, external agencies and directly with tenants day to day.

This role would be great for an existing housing officer who is interested in being involved in the full 360 tenant management process from application through to allocation.

It would also be a really good fit for somebody with a background within lettings who wants to work closer with the allocations process and directly with applicants.

The main purpose of this opening is to work effectively with prospective tenants, occupying tenants, letting agents, managing agents and head landlords and be responsible for the advertising, application and allocation process for homes.

You will also be supporting our tenants through the application process and into their tenancies.

Key highlights for this opening:

  • Advertise properties through local choice-based lettings services or directly
  • Shortlist applications for available homes
  • Conduct assessments of shortlisted applicants using the allocations procedure in accordance with the business policies.
  • Conduct interviews with prospective tenants
  • Allocate homes in accordance with the relevant local lettings plan, the section 106 (if applicable) and the allocations policy.
  • Work with applicants to assess their financial circumstances and their suitability for longer term purchases.
  • Support applicants and new tenants to access appropriate financial advice as required.
  • Work effectively with external letting agents and partners to onboard new properties to ensure homes are ready for viewing and are compliant for letting.
  • Offer support to manage and monitor the performance of contractors and managing agents.

Experience required to be successful in this role:

  • Experience working in housing allocations, lettings or tenancy onboarding
  • Prior experience working within Local Authority or Housing Associations in a similar role would be really welcome
  • A desire for ongoing development, particularly CIH qualifications
  • Understanding of affordable housing, rent to buy or local lettings frameworks
