Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire

Up to £35,000 | Monday–Friday | 08:00–17:00

QS Recruitment are supporting a well-established Transport & Logistics company in the expansion of their Container Division. Due to this expansion they are now looking to recruit an experienced Transport Planner (Containers) to join their growing team in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established, reputable haulier operating across general and intermodal transport, where you’ll play a key role in planning container movements and supporting a busy, fast-paced operation.

The successful Transport Planner (Containers) will join an established team of 4 planners and must have previous container planning experience — this is essential for the role.

Skills

  • Strong organisational and planning skills within a fast-paced transport environment
  • Excellent communication skills when liaising with drivers, ports and subcontractors
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple movements simultaneously
  • Confident using transport systems and planning tools

Experience

  • Essential: Previous experience as a Transport Planner (Containers)
  • Proven knowledge of container transport operations, ports and intermodal logistics
  • Experience working with subcontract hauliers and third-party providers
  • Strong understanding of UK transport routes and national planning

Job Details

  • Plan and coordinate daily container movements across the UK
  • Work closely with ports, rail networks and shipping lines, including handling PIN releases
  • Liaise with drivers and subcontract hauliers to ensure efficient service delivery
  • Monitor and adjust plans in real-time to respond to operational changes
  • Work as part of a team of 4 planners within a growing container division
