Supply Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Grimsby

Location: Primary schools across Grimsby and surrounding areas

Contract: Flexible supply – full-time or part-time

Pay: Competitive HLTA day rates (depending on experience & assignment)

About the Role

We are looking for confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work on a flexible supply basis across primary schools in the Grimsby area. This role suits HLTAs who enjoy variety and are able to step into different classrooms, support learning at a high level, and deliver prepared lessons when needed.

You’ll have full control over your availability, with a mix of pre-booked and same-day assignments.

Key Responsibilities

Class Teaching & Classroom Support

  • Leading whole-class teaching in the absence of the class teacher
  • Delivering planned lessons and ensuring continuity of learning
  • Providing targeted small-group and 1:1 support
  • Assisting with planning, preparation, and assessment where required

SEND & Intervention Support

  • Delivering intervention programmes (reading, phonics, maths, etc.)
  • Providing tailored support for pupils with additional needs
  • Working under the direction of SENCOs and class teachers

Behaviour & Pastoral Support

  • Maintaining positive behaviour and a calm learning environment
  • Supporting pupils’ emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Building strong, nurturing relationships with pupils

Flexibility & Professional Conduct

  • Working across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 as required
  • Adapting quickly to different schools, routines, and expectations
  • Communicating effectively with school staff and your Reed consultant

To Thrive in this Role

You will have:

  • HLTA status or equivalent experience leading classes
  • Confidence delivering lessons and supporting learning at a high level
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and reliability
  • A passion for helping children succeed
  • A working knowledge of safeguarding procedures
  • An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
