Are you looking for a new social work role?

Sanctuary Social Care currently has a permanent vacancy based in Basingstoke for a Learning and Care Support Assistant. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Social Work Practice in Children's Services.

As the post holder of this role, you will receive a competitive salary of £17,964 - £18,794 per annum.

This is a superb opportunity to work in a residential home and school, rated outstanding by Ofsted, of 28 children who have the most severe and complex learning difficulties and severe autism. The school does not have classrooms, as our children will not learn this way, instead learning is incorporated into activities.

Main Responsibilities/Duties:

- Activities can range from a long walk through the country or meeting our animals at their very own farm.

- You could be taking part in a swimming lesson at our on-site pool or you might be having an art or music lesson outside in our vast grounds.

- You will follow the child's Risk Assessment and Behaviour Guidelines at all times to ensure a consistent and safe approach is followed.

- You will support the children in all aspects of their everyday life to help them make their needs known and you will implement all of the children's teaching programmes and support the Teacher to ensure that children enjoy fulfilling fun teaching and leisure activities.

- All new starters receive 4 weeks of shadowing and training. You will never be on your own for the first 4 weeks of employment whilst you learn about the children and the job role.

Opportunities are available for:-

- Day workers - between 7.30am and 10pm and work a one in two weekend shift pattern.

- Night workers - 3 nights per week from 7.30pm to 07.45 am and work a one in two weekend shift pattern.

- Weekend workers - Saturday and Sunday

Requirements of the Learning and Care Support Assistant:

- Degree or equivalent in social work

- Significant senior level frontline experience within children's services

- Previous experience of looking after children with autism would be an advantage however a can-do attitude and commitment to the children and your team is equally as important and full training will be given.
