Job Description

The Group Catering General Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational excellence, and financial performance of a portfolio of contract catering operations across multiple sites. This role ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality food, service standards, and client satisfaction while driving commercial growth, compliance, and team development.

Operational Leadership

  • Lead and oversee multiple contract catering sites, ensuring consistent service delivery and operational excellence

  • Implement company standards, policies, and procedures across all locations

  • Drive continuous improvement in food quality, service, and operational efficiency

  • Ensure effective mobilisation of new contracts and smooth transitions

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders

  • Act as the senior point of contact for client escalations and strategic reviews

  • Lead regular client meetings, performance reviews, and business planning sessions

  • Identify opportunities to enhance service offerings and add value to client contracts

Financial & Commercial Performance

  • Full P&L responsibility for the group, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control

  • Drive revenue growth through innovation, upselling, and contract development

  • Ensure achievement of financial targets, margins, and KPIs

  • Monitor labour, food costs, and operational expenditure to maximise profitability

People Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing management teams

  • Coach and mentor General Managers and senior site leaders

  • Foster a positive culture focused on engagement, accountability, and performance

  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, employment legislation, and best practices

Food, Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, health & safety, and legal requirements

  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, allergen management, and food safety systems

  • Lead audits, risk assessments, and corrective action plans

  • Champion sustainability, ethical sourcing, and environmental initiatives

Innovation & Growth

  • Drive food and service innovation aligned with market trends and client needs

  • Support business development initiatives, tenders, and contract renewals

  • Collaborate with culinary, marketing, and central support teams to enhance the offer



Qualifications

  • Proven senior leadership experience in contract catering or multi-site foodservice

  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrable P&L management experience

  • Exceptional client relationship and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to lead and inspire large, diverse teams across multiple locations

  • Strong understanding of food safety, health & safety, and compliance requirements

  • Experience in managing complex contracts within corporate, education, healthcare, or leisure sectors
