3D Environment Artist - Unreal Engine

Location: Hybrid (3 days per week on-site in Central London)
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum
Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are working with a London-based production studio looking to hire an experienced 3D Environment Artist with a strong track record in real-time scene assembly and environment work in Unreal Engine. The ideal candidate will come from a Games, VFX or Virtual Production background and have a keen eye for composition, performance-aware scene building, and real-time visuals.

This is a hands-on role focused on building, dressing, and refining environments that look great and run efficiently. A working knowledge of Blueprints and technical workflows is a strong advantage but not a core requirement.

Key Responsibilities

* Building and dressing real-time environments in Unreal Engine using modular assets and kits.

* Collaborating with the art and tech teams to ensure scenes meet both creative and performance goals.

* Working with lighting, materials, and post-process volumes to shape the final look.

* Managing clean scene organisation, asset naming, and performance-friendly structuring.

* Supporting minor technical implementation (e.g. triggers, animations) via Blueprints when needed.

What We're Looking For

* Professional experience as a 3D or Environment Artist in Games, VFX, or Virtual Production.

* Solid working knowledge of Unreal Engine — particularly scene assembly and optimisation.

* Strong understanding of real-time lighting, asset efficiency, and visual polish.

* Experience using tools such as Maya/Max/Blender and Substance Painter or Designer.

* A proactive, problem-solving mindset and ability to contribute across creative and technical workflows.

Bonus Skills

* Blueprint experience for environmental logic or basic interactivity.

* Familiarity with real-time workflows in broadcast, live events, or VP.

* Understanding of shader blending, landscape tools, and lighting pipelines.

Role Details

* Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on experience

* Location: Central London studio, with a hybrid setup (3 days per week on-site)

* Reporting to: Head of Technology

* Team: Collaborative, cross-discipline production and creative team
