The role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse to join our highly specialised Haematology Unit at The London Clinic. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated nurse to take the next step in their career within one of the UK's leading independent hospitals.

In this senior position, you will oversee the safe and effective delivery of complex haematology care, including patients undergoing autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplants. You will lead by example, supporting your team to maintain exceptional clinical standards and provide individualised, compassionate care throughout every stage of treatment.

The Haematology Unit forms part of our world-renowned Cancer Services department, based within our purpose-built Duchess of Devonshire Wing. We provide specialist care for patients with haematological malignancies, offering advanced therapies such as chemotherapy, blood product support and stem cell transplantation.

Key Duties:

  • Lead the safe delivery of care for patients undergoing haematology treatment and stem cell transplants
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff while deputising for the Ward Manager when required
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement, JACIE accreditation activities and multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Administer cytotoxic chemotherapy and blood products in line with protocol
  • Promote patient-centred care and ensure safe documentation, drug administration and infection control
  • Act as an effective resource and point of contact for patients, families and colleagues

Skills & Experience:

Essential

  • Registered Nurse qualification
  • Post-registration experience in Oncology and/or Haematology
  • Competency in stem cell return and blood transfusion
  • Strong organizational skills and high standards of clinical practice
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy, cannulation, and intravenous cytotoxic drug administration
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to departmental education

Desirable

  • Completion of ENB 237/998 or equivalent
  • Haematology, chemotherapy, or cancer foundation courses
  • Experience in academic writing, presentations, or committee participation
  • Familiarity with Meditech & Mosaiq systems
  • Previous involvement in JACIE accreditation processes
