We are seeking a Family Law Paralegal to become a part of our team! You will provide overall support to attorneys' business needs.

You:
You are a drafting ninja. You like, no you love discovery work. You love digging into the personal lives of stressed out people to find the truth. You are good at working with difficult people going through a difficult time. You can't help but be proactive on a case because fires suck for everyone involved. You want a job where you can make a difference in folks lives by shining as the rockstar that you are while getting home at a decent hour.

The Job:
We need someone who can perform the following activities on a daily basis:

  • Draft and edit pleadings, correspondence, and settlement agreements
  • File court documents
  • Discovery
  • Act as first point of contact with retained clients
  • Handle customer care, ensuring clients are up-to-date on the status of their case and feel informed about their options
  • Review, organize, and analyze client documents and document production
  • Meet with attorneys to share information and define strategy in preparation for hearings
  • Maintain and organize digital client files
  • Discovery Use programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, Clio, Asana and Google Apps to communicate and report
  • Take client payments
  • Office bookkeeping
  • Maintain Office Supplies
  • Generally make the attorney's life easier.

Qualifications:

  • Glowing personality a MUST!

  • At least three years experience at a family law firm

  • Experience handling difficult/stressed out people
  • Familiarity with legal research
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Deadline and detail-oriented


Skills and experience are required, appreciated, and valued, but personality, character, intelligence, and integrity will be paramount considerations. High-maintenance, humorless, or self-important individuals will not succeed in this position and should not apply. You should already be a self-starter, quick learner, and stay cool under pressure. You must be compassionate toward our clients in the office and a beast in the courtroom. You must be collegial and fun, but industrious. Coping skills are a must: our cases/clients can be intense. The ideal applicant has a background in family law, working with children, and/or working with parents. Above all else, you must have a demonstrated ability to talk people off of the ledge. We strive to only go to court over serious issues for our clients.
It would be extra awesome if you were fluent in Spanish and/or someone who really gets into creating and documenting processes for a law firm.
