Head of Music

Are you a passionate and visionary Head of Music ready to lead and inspire? Teach Now is delighted to be recruiting for an exciting opportunity at a warm, welcoming secondary academy in Hertfordshire, London, starting September 2025.

We are seeking a dynamic Head of Music who thrives in a diverse, mainstream environment and who is committed to nurturing musical talent across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This vibrant school believes every student has the potential for success and fosters a culture of independent learning, social development, and joyful discovery.

As Head of Music, you will have the chance to shape and grow a thriving department, leading a team that is passionate about enriching students' lives through music. You will oversee a broad curriculum and encourage participation in performances, ensembles, and creative projects, making music an essential and celebrated part of school life.

This role would particularly suit someone who understands and embraces diversity, with a strong background in mainstream education. Candidates coming directly from independent school settings may find the transition challenging, so prior experience in inclusive environments is highly desirable. A first meeting will either be an informal Teams call or coffee chat, followed by interview for suitable candidates.

The ideal Head of Music will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Demonstrate strong leadership skills and creative flair
• Have experience teaching KS3-5, with a proven track record of inspiring students
• Be energetic, approachable, and passionate about creating opportunities for all pupils

Ready to hit the right note in your career? Apply now to join this exciting academy community as their new Head of Music!
