Location: Hybrid - 160 Tooley Street, Southwark (Office attendance every Tuesday, with occasional additional days as required)
Contract Type: Temporary (19 May 2025 - 11 August 2025)
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week (09:00 - 17:00)
Pay Rate: £19 per hour

About the Role
Southwark Council is looking for a proactive and organised HR Assistant to support its Governance & Assurance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to key HR activities including employee relations casework, investigations, panel hearings, reorganisations, and workforce planning.
You will be central to delivering a professional, friendly, and efficient HR service, while growing your own knowledge and experience through practical involvement and on-the-job learning.
Key Responsibilities
Provide vital administrative support for HR Business Partner-led projects
Assist with ER case management, including hearings and investigations
Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate HR support
Contribute to process improvements and team initiatives
Manage tasks effectively, meeting key deadlines and maintaining accuracy
Use digital tools and HR systems to record and track information
What We're Looking For
Solid knowledge of HR practices and working understanding of employment law
Previous experience in an HR or administrative role (public sector preferred)
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to remain calm and methodical in sensitive situations
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and HR information systems
A collaborative team player with strong communication skills
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and high professional standards
