Senior Finance Manager

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Manager to take full ownership of the finance function within a growing business group linked between the UK and US. This role is ideal for someone who is ready to dive deep into operational finance, establishing strong controls and delivering precise financial reporting from the outset.

Day-to-day of the role:

Financial Reporting & Month-end:

  • Manage month-end close and produce management accounts.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Provide clear commentary on performance, variances, and risks.
  • Maintain high data integrity across systems and reports.

Cashflow & Working Capital:

  • Conduct weekly cashflow forecasting with rigorous attention to detail.
  • Monitor working capital components such as receivables, payables, and stock.
  • Escalate financial risks clearly and promptly.

Transactional Finance & Control:

  • Full ownership of accounts receivable and payable.
  • Active credit control, monitoring, and follow-up of overdue balances.
  • Conduct supplier payment runs and oversee purchase processes.
  • Maintain accurate ledgers and uphold strict transactional discipline.
  • Ensure precision and consistency across all day-to-day finance activities.

Compliance & External Relationships:

  • Manage relationships with external accountants and advisers.
  • Support statutory reporting and tax compliance, focusing on UK and US elements.
  • Ensure finance processes meet regulatory and internal standards.

Systems, Processes & Ownership:

  • Take ownership of finance systems and core processes.
  • Improve controls, documentation, and consistency.
  • Ensure the finance function remains robust, repeatable, and scalable as the business evolves.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a hands-on finance role within an SME environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and transactional accuracy.
  • Strong capability in managing AR/AP and owning the end-to-end finance cycle.
  • Proficient in cashflow forecasting and financial judgement.
  • Strong Excel and finance system skills.
  • Qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or qualified by experience.
  • Experience in a standalone or small-team finance function.
  • Exposure to multi-entity or international environments is beneficial but not essential.
