My client is a globally recognised machinery manufacturer currently experiencing a strong period of growth. They are actively seeking a Business Development Manager to join the business as part of their ongoing expansion plans.

The Role
My client is seeking a commercially astute and technically skilled Business Development Manager to build long-term customer partnerships and drive global sales.

The successful candidate will have an engineering background and a passion for sales and customer engagement. This role involves selling new machinery, significant system upgrades, and tailored service or contract packages. You will be responsible for identifying bespoke capital equipment solutions that meet complex client needs.

You'll be expected to visit customer sites, host on-site visits, and represent the business at key international events and trade shows. With a technical sales process and a longer sales cycle typical of bespoke machinery, success in this role requires strong relationship-building and consultative sales skills.

Key Responsibilities

* Understand customer technical requirements and propose value-driven solutions, balancing technical suitability and commercial viability.

* Build and maintain long-term client relationships, guiding them throughout the entire sales process.

* Deliver confident and clear presentations and client communications, translating technical concepts into accessible language.

* Attend customer sites and represent the company at global industry events and trade shows.

* Identify when bespoke development work is required and present proposals accordingly.

* Drive business development by identifying and engaging new customer opportunities in target markets.

* Ensure a smooth handover to internal teams' post-sale and maintain communication on key commercial projects.

The Candidate

Must have an engineering background due to the technical nature of the products and services.

Proven experience in technical sales, preferably in capital equipment or bespoke machinery.

Strong communication and relationship management skills.

Capable of managing long-cycle, complex sales processes.

Highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented.

Comfortable using LinkedIn and digital platforms for customer engagement.

Willing to travel internationally for client meetings and industry events.
