In 2012, BEL Engineering was established as a project-managed CNC machining business to cater for the growing demand for precision sub-contract machining in the UK and European markets. Operating from their secure, integrated manufacturing facility in Newcastle upon Tyne, they manufacture 3mm diameter to 50 tonne components for customers in a wide variety of sectors, including civil nuclear, defence, aerospace, marine and oil & gas.

Job Description:

As a Deburring Operative, you will be a vital part of the production process, ensuring machined components meet the highest standards before they proceed to final inspection or delivery. Reporting to the Cell Manager, your focus will be on precision, attention to detail, and maintaining exceptional cleanliness and quality throughout your work.

Key duties include:

* Performing in-process and final de-burring using both powered and manual tools

* Cleaning and dressing components in preparation for final inspection

* Using measuring equipment such as micrometers and Vernier calipers to check against engineering drawings

* Recording and documenting quality control data

* Assisting with component assembly and supporting trainee development

* Ensuring traceability and documentation is always accurate

* Adhering to 5S and continuous improvement principles across the department

* Following all safety and environmental policies

This role is suited to an experienced Deburring Operative looking to apply their skills in a high-standard, low-variance engineering environment where precision is critical.

Skills & Experience:

* Minimum of 5 years' experience in a machine shop or engineering environment

* Apprenticeship in mechanical engineering (preferred)

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and quality specifications

* Skilled in the use of inspection tools

* Computer literate and confident using internal systems

* Full UK driving licence

* Must be flexible to work shifts and travel between sites if required

* Experience with precision assembly work is an advantage

* Must be able to pass Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check
