The commercial architectural estimator prepares the quotation from a list of materials, an elevation takeoff, or plans and specifications. The estimator should be experienced in commercial renovation and new commercial build projects. They will interact with internal and external customers, and make technical and financial decisions as they pertain to the project. The Estimator will interact on the phone and should develop a practical knowledge of the bidding process. Position may be Full-Time, Part-Time, or Contract on an as needed basis, depending on qualifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Heavy interaction with customers on the telephone and email. Must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Expected to answer some routine estimating questions, referring more in depth questions to appropriate parties.
- This level of estimator is responsible for list of material and elevation takeoff, and plans and specs estimates and may be responsible for reviewing and scheduling customer estimates. Covering Division 00 to Division 21.
- Adhere to MSI policies and standard operating procedures.
- Working closely with estimating staff, field staff, sub contractors, vendors, architects, engineers and customers.
- Any additional duties assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Construction or Project Management is desired; and/ or a minimum of 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Sage, QuickBooks, Logikal, Glazier's Studio, or other industry based estimating software, and AutoCAD is preferable. The ability to read and interpret architectural plans and specifications is required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Word, Excel, Sage, QuickBooks, AS-400, Oracle CRM and AutoCAD preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in some of the work environment is usually loud. However, the majority of the time for this position is spent in an office environment.
