This specific site focuses on Post-16 learners, providing a bridge between school and adulthood. The environment is designed to feel professional and mature, featuring vocational workshops and hubs that help students develop the practical skills needed for the workplace and independent living.
The RoleThis role is centred on employability and life skills. You will be supporting older students as they engage in vocational courses, work placements, and functional skills. Your goal is to foster confidence and independence in young adults who may use BSL, Makaton, or other augmentative communication methods.
Required Skills & DutiesVocational Support: Assisting students within practical learning environments (e.g., catering, horticulture, or office skills).
Communication: Acting as a bridge for students with sensory impairments; an interest or proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) is highly desirable.
Employability Coaching: Helping students develop CVs, practice interview techniques, and succeed during off-site work experience.
Independence Training: Supporting learners with "travel training" and daily living tasks to prepare them for life after college.
MUST HAVESEnhanced DBS: On the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for a new one).
Right to Work: Valid eligibility to work in the UK.
Experience: Previous experience with SEND, specifically with older teenagers or young adults (16-25).
Qualifications: Relevant Level 2/3 qualification; experience in a vocational or "preparation for adulthood" setting is a plus.
