The Role:

As the Pensions & Benefits Consultant you will assist the Head of Pensions and Benefits to help shape and develop M&G plc’s strategy for employee benefits and pensions. As part of this you will support the Head of Pensions and Benefits in managing M&G plc’s relationships with the Trustees of our three large UK pension schemes.

You will provide challenge and support to the Head of Pensions and Benefits on projects across the range of Group pension scheme activities.

You will have a unique opportunity to gain a group-wide perspective on managing pension & benefits policy and strategy. You will work in a cross-cultural and cross-functional environment and learn the breadth of HR operations in a multi-national financial services group.

Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • Effective management of the UK ill-health, excepted life assurance and private medical arrangements
  • Point of liaison with the UK Trustee team on pension matters, this may include attending Trustee meetings
  • Administration of ongoing UK auto-enrolment compliance activities ensuring timely returns to the Pensions Regulator and efficient organisation of re-enrolments
  • Managing and assisting with benefit reviews and new benefit implementations
  • Managing and assisting with reviews of benefits providers / suppliers
  • Managing and assisting with the implementation of regulatory change projects
  • Assistance with the administration of non-standard legacy arrangements
  • Drafting, reviewing and updating employee benefit communications
  • Support and deliver other ad hoc pension & benefit projects
  • Assist in the ongoing management of adviser relationships

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Pensions and/or Benefits expertise, preferably in an in-house environment
  • Familiarity with UK pensions legislation and/or international pensions & benefits
  • Ability and ambition to expand knowledge across all areas of the team’s remit
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks, while recognising the need for appropriate review / oversight
  • Eager to learn new things and comfortable with change
  • Able to communicate and work within a team effectively, influencing stakeholders, to ensure goals are achieved
