Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to work with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) across specialist provisions and inclusive mainstream schools in Sheffield.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who want to make a meaningful difference to children's lives by providing the care, patience, and consistency that they need to flourish.

About the Role

As an Autism Support Teaching Assistant, you will:

Work one-to-one or in small groups with pupils with ASC
Support with communication, sensory regulation, and social interaction
Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities and life-skills programmes
Use visual aids, routines, and strategies like PECS or Makaton (training available)
Help manage behaviours in a calm and supportive manner

What We're Looking For

We're seeking individuals who:

Have experience supporting children with Autism, either in education, care, or a personal capacity - Though experience is NOT required
Are patient, consistent, and emotionally resilient
Understand the importance of structure, predictability, and communication in supporting pupils with ASC
Are keen to learn and develop their practice in SEN settings
Training in Autism, Makaton, PECS, or Team Teach is desirable but not essential - we can support you with this.

What is required?

All candidates will need to have or be willing to apply for a child's workforce enhanced DBS check
This DBS is required to be on the update service
A minimum of 2 professional references, covering 24 months of employment
Appropriate right to work in the UK
