The Resident Liaison Officer (RLO) serves as the primary link between the company (specifically during refurbishment or maintenance projects) and the residents/stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, minimal disruption, and effective conflict resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resident Communication: Act as the main point of contact for residents, leaseholders, and contractors, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Information Management: Establish effective communication channels to keep all stakeholders informed about project schedules, access requirements, and timelines.
  • Access Coordination: Coordinate access to properties with residents to ensure the smooth delivery of works (e.g., kitchen and bathroom installations) in occupied homes.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with residents, treating them fairly and reasonably at all times.
  • Problem/Conflict Resolution: Identify and resolve any conflicts or issues that arise between residents and the project team, mediating conversations to find mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare reports, manage information flow, and provide regular updates on resident engagement and relationship status to senior management.
  • Community Engagement: Assist in implementing community benefit initiatives, such as local employment, training, and volunteering opportunities associated with the project.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven experience in liaising with the public, ideally within social housing or domestic maintenance environments.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage challenging situations and expectations.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people and work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, to meet residents' needs.
  • DBS Check: The role requires a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at the offer stage.
  • Driving License: A valid UK driving license and access to a car is often essential for travel between properties and sites.
