Are you an experienced finance professional who thrives in a varied, hands-on role? I’m supporting a growing organisation in South Warwickshire who are seeking a capable Finance Assistant to join their close-knit team to provide maternity cover. This is a fully office-based position and would suit someone who enjoys being involved in the full breadth of day-to-day finance activity within a small but busy business.
The Opportunity
Working closely with the Finance Director, you’ll play a key role in the smooth running of the finance function. This is an ideal role for someone who likes ownership, variety, and being part of a collaborative, practical environment where no two days are the same.
You’ll be involved in a wide range of tasks, from transactional finance through to supporting month-end processes, offering both challenge and development in equal measure.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will span several core finance areas, including:
- Managing the Accounts Receivable process: raising sales invoices, tracking debtor activity, and handling payment follow-up
- Liaising with project managers to ensure purchase orders are raised accurately and in good time
- Overseeing business credit card administration and associated reconciliations
- Supporting the Accounts Payable function, including invoice processing and supplier management
- Preparing and running twice-monthly creditor payment cycles
- Managing payments, receipts, and bank reconciliations
- Assisting with month-end accounts, including accruals, prepayments, asset register maintenance, depreciation, disposals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Completing VAT returns (UK and, where required, EU)
- Offering general support to the Finance Director and assisting with ad-hoc finance tasks
- Contributing to ongoing improvements in financial processes and systems
About You
The successful candidate will bring:
- Finance experience, with confidence managing a busy and varied workload
- A proactive, mature approach and willingness to take responsibility
- An understanding of the pace and adaptability required in a smaller organisation
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Access to your own transport due to the rural office location
Benefits
A supportive environment with a friendly team culture, plus a range of benefits including:
- Company pension scheme
- Free onsite parking
- Casual dress
- Cycle-to-work scheme
- Sick pay
- Holiday purchase scheme
