Finance Manager / Company Accountant Location: East KentContract: Full-time, PermanentOffice-based: 5 days per weekThe Company Our client is a family-owned SME manufacturing business with a proud reputation for quality and reliability. Operating with a close-knit team, they are seeking a Finance Manager to take full ownership of finance activities. This is a pivotal, hands-on position where you’ll be the sole finance professional, responsible for both day-to-day transactional work and providing commercial insight to support growth.The Role This role will suit someone who is practical, adaptable, and enjoys being involved at every level. You’ll cover everything from processing and reconciliations through to costing, stock control, and system management. Working closely with the owners and operational teams, you’ll provide accurate financial information and analysis, while ensuring the right controls are in place for the business to thrive.Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out daily accounting tasks including invoicing, reconciliations, and payments.
  • Manage product costing and margin analysis, ensuring accurate and transparent pricing.
  • Oversee stock control, reporting on variances and improving visibility.
  • Maintain and develop the ERP system (SAP Business One or similar).
  • Prepare management accounts and reports to support decision-making.
  • Partner with production and operations teams to drive efficiency and cost savings.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls suitable for an SME environment.
  • Support owners with ad hoc financial projects and analysis.
Candidate Profile We’re looking for someone with the versatility and confidence to be the “go-to” person for all things finance:
  • Experience with SAP Business One or another ERP system.
  • Strong background in costing and stock control within a manufacturing setting.
  • Hands-on approach, comfortable managing both transactional and commercial tasks.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload independently.
  • Good communication skills, able to work effectively with non-finance colleagues.
  • A practical, detail-oriented mindset with commercial awareness.
  • Flexibility to work fully office-based, 5 days per week.
