We are partnering with a well-established UK legal entity within a global engineering Group to appoint a Head of Finance in a senior, hands-on leadership role based in Greater Manchester.

This is a key appointment, offering full ownership of the finance function for the UK entity, with significant exposure to group reporting, governance, and commercial decision-making. The role will suit a current or aspiring Head of Finance, Finance Director or Senior Finance Leader who is comfortable balancing strategic leadership with operational detail, and who thrives in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

The Role

Reporting both locally and functionally into Group Finance, you will take full responsibility for the end-to-end financial leadership of the UK legal entity. This includes financial governance, statutory compliance, reporting, controls, and providing trusted commercial support to the senior leadership team.

This is a high-credibility role with visibility at both local and group level, requiring strong judgement, confidence in decision-making, and the ability to operate effectively in a multinational structure.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Governance

  • Full ownership of financial management, controls, and statutory compliance for the UK legal entity
  • Ensuring robust financial governance in line with group policies and regulatory requirements

Reporting & Group Interaction

  • Ownership of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
  • Oversight and approval of Group submissions, including commentary
  • Close collaboration with Group Finance on reporting accuracy and deadlines

Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance

  • Leading the annual budget cycle and rolling forecasts
  • Cash flow management and liquidity planning
  • Providing insight on performance, margins, and key financial drivers

Payroll, Tax & Compliance

  • Oversight of payroll accuracy, pensions, bonus calculations, and employee-related financial reporting
  • Management of corporation tax, VAT, R&D-related activities, and wider statutory obligations
  • Acting as the senior contact for external advisors and auditors

Treasury & Banking

  • Managing banking relationships, cash flow forecasting, and payment approvals
  • Exposure to FX and treasury-related activity

Systems & Process Control

  • Governance of finance systems and processes (including SAP B1 and group consolidation tools)
  • Oversight of intercompany processes and controls

Commercial & Strategic Support

  • Acting as a trusted finance partner to the General Manager and leadership team
  • Contributing to business cases, strategic initiatives, and operational decision-making

Leadership

  • Leading and developing a small team
  • Adopting a collaborative, hands-on, and pragmatic leadership style
About You

We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with solid post-qualification experience in a senior finance leadership role.

You are likely to bring:

  • Experience within a group or multinational environment
  • Strong grounding in statutory reporting, governance, and controls
  • A practical, sleeves-rolled-up approach combined with commercial insight
  • Confidence operating at senior stakeholder level
  • A leadership style that is credible, grounded, and collaborative

Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or complex operational environments would be advantageous, though not essential.
