Duration – Temporary with potential for Permanent BRC are seeking compassionate and dedicated
Residential Support Workers to join a new residential project in the Vale of Glamorgan! This unique service believes that every young person deserves a safe home, care, and the chance to thrive. This role involves providing practical and emotional support to young people, helping them to develop independence, resilience, and confidence. Ensuring high levels of emotional and physical care, appropriate activities, as well as a comfortable, safe and supportive environment are provided to the young people who live within the home, which will be registered with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW).
Key Responsibilities of a Residential Support Worker:- Providing excellent care and support within the home, ensuring a safe, nurturing and welcoming environment.
- Delivering high levels of emotional and physical care, and supporting young people to take part in activities that build confidence and independence.
- Helping young people maintain and strengthen relationships with family, friends, and professionals.
- Working closely with external partners to ensure the best opportunities and standards of care.
- Acting as a key worker, using trauma-informed and child-centred practice to provide kind, empathetic and consistent support.
- Keeping accurate records and CIW requirements.
- To be awake and on shift, when the young people are sleeping, to ensure their safety at all times and to be responsive to their needs if they wake or remain awake in the night time.
- Supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to manage risks, including safeguarding and health & safety.
Person Specification:- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive in challenging situations
- Current or willing to register with Social Care Wales.
- QCF level 3 in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards this within a set timeframe.
- Flexibility to work shifts (including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins).
- Experience of working in a psychologically and trauma informed environment.
- Committed to work in a young person-centred way
- Ability to key work and engagement with young individuals with complex needs
