Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be working with a lovely Primary School in Goodmayes, Redbridge, seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Mentor to join their team from February 2026.

This rewarding role will involve supporting a Year 2 class, working closely with a small group of children who are displaying emotional difficulties in class. The successful candidate will play a vital part in helping pupils regulate their emotions, build confidence, and develop positive relationships within the classroom environment.

The school is looking for an individual who is patient, nurturing, and skilled at creating a safe and supportive space for young learners. Ideally, the Learning Mentor will possess counselling or therapeutic skills, with a strong understanding of how emotional needs can impact learning and behaviour.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing targeted emotional and social support to a small group of pupils
• Building trusting relationships to encourage engagement and resilience
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and coping strategies
• Collaborating with the class teacher and SENCO
• Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience supporting children within a primary school setting
• A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Counselling, mentoring, or therapeutic training (desirable)
• A genuine passion for supporting children's well being
