Merco are an established medical staffing agency with nearly 20 years' experience covering all aspects of primary care nationwide.
 
We are currently collaborating with an established NHS 111 provider requiring call handlers, to provide essential services in the South East.
 
This role involves providing members of the public with urgent and non-urgent advice - and directing them to the most appropriate care.
(It is ideal for applicants with experience in a call centre or from a customer care background).  
 
Applicants must be able to commit to out of hours work, including weekends/evenings and nights, and work is done on a rota basis.
 
All professional backgrounds will be considered for this role, and no experience in the healthcare industry is required - if you are competent with telephone and I.T skills. You must however have experience working in a high pressure environment, as calls can be time sensitive. We are looking for strong communicators who are confident in decision making abilities, to potentially provide lifesaving instructions… No one phone call will be the same as another!
 
This is a fantastic role if you're looking to transition away from face-to-face customer roles, and you have the tenacity to deal with scenarios that will have vastly different outcomes.

What the role pays
 
Hourly rates start from £10.64 per hour while in training (6 weeks).
 
Requirements for the role

Relevant work experience is an advantage but all backgrounds will be considered.
Proficient in telephone and I.T. skills
Must be eligible to work in the UK
Ability to work unsocial hours
Be able to stay calm under pressure
Ability to adhere to written and verbal instructions.
