Services offered include the Professional Development Center vocational school, job readiness and placement assistance, GED tutoring, Working Toward the Future Program, GROW Urban Farm, nutritionally assisted alcohol and drug treatment, peer support and case management services, and the Eagle’s Nest Recovery House. Flying HIGH, Inc. seeks a qualified STNA instructor. This is a contract position.
The STNA Instructor provides direct instruction to State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) students, assuring all regulatory instruction is delivered in accordance with state specific requirements. Will maintain all compliance-related documentation as required. Ensures STNA students are prepared to pass state required testing to become a State Tested Nursing Assistant.
An instructor is primarily responsible for the daily management of the classroom including providing relevant content instruction, developing and implementing innovative teaching strategies, supporting the mission of the school in providing quality education, coordinating appropriate clinical experiences to meet the learning needs of students and effectively communicating in a timely manner with program director regarding professional and student needs. Instructors also serve as ongoing evaluators of the developed curriculum.
Responsibilities and Duties
Teach assigned STNA classes using effective strategies and principles of adult education.
Create an environment conducive to learning and student-instructor interaction.
Monitor attendance and maintain appropriate student and course documentation; work closely with academic coordinator to keep accurate student records.
Ensure all State regulations are met in course curriculum and student-instructor ratios.
Score and evaluate knowledge, skills, and educational performance of participants before verifying completion of the course.
Assure students satisfactorily demonstrate skills prior to performing with patients or residents.
Provide direct supervision and observation of all student clinical experience.
Assist participants with study preparations for the STNA state board exam.
Qualifications and Skills
Must have a current, unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Must have a current Train-the-Trainer certificate.
Documented 3200 hours (approx. 2 years) of nursing experience as a licensed nurse caring for the elderly or chronically ill individuals of any age. (experience may be obtained through employment in a long-term care facility, a home health agency, or hospital providing care to the chronically ill - verification should be provided on company letterhead and include contact’s title, name, and phone number) .
Experience in teaching or training in the healthcare field.
Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
