About the RoleYou may be a recent engineering graduate, industry professional, or aspiring educator with a passion for design and technology. We are looking for someone who:
- Is a motivated aspiring DT / Engineering teacher
- Holds a degree in Engineering, Product Design, Manufacturing, or a related discipline
- Has strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for practical learning
- Is reflective, resilient and eager to grow into an outstanding teacher
- Can build positive relationships and inspire young people
- Is committed to high standards and continuous professional development
Industry experience is welcome but not essential — passion, commitment and willingness to learn are key.
Training & Progression with Grad2TeachThis role follows Grad2Teach’s fully salaried, two-phase teacher training model:
Phase One – Level 4 & Foundational Training- Complete your Level 4 NCFE customised qualification while working in school
- Training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers' Standards
- Guided practice, observations, instructional coaching and professional learning sessions
- Increasing classroom responsibility with structured mentor support
Phase Two – PGCE & QTS (Coventry University)Subject to successful progression, Phase Two includes:
- Independent teaching responsibility (up to 18 hours per week)
- Completion of a PGCE with QTS through Coventry University (NITE)
- Ongoing mentoring, assessment and development towards meeting all Teachers’ Standards
This structured progression ensures you gain the skills, confidence and accreditation needed to begin your career as a fully qualified Design & Technology teacher specialising in Engineering.

St Albans, Hertfordshire
