A market leading construction contractor that specialises in the delivery of bespoke offices, education, healthcare and retail frameworks across the UK.

The Project

As a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have an important role within the senior commercial team based from the regional office in West Yorkshire. You will manage commercial aspects of a £20m defence project, ensuring it remains within budget whilst meeting all necessary specifications and standards.

Requirements

It is essential that you hold the experience below;

Demonstrated experience working on new build / refurbishment of defence projects
Proven experience working on / strong understanding of NEC contracts
Extensive background within the industry with at least 5 years of experience working in a similar position for a market leading construction contractor or subcontractorAdditional skills;

Excellent sales and presentation skills
Proficient in the relevant software tools
Ability to multitask and prioritise projects

Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Job Type: Long-term freelance
Project: £20m - New Build Defence Project
Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire
Duration: 6 months
Reporting to: Managing SurveyorDuties

Procurement operations
Review of tender cost provisions
Reporting regularly to Managing Surveyor
Compiling material usage and reconciliation reports
Evaluate and compare bids from contractors and suppliers
Assess the cost-effectiveness of alternative design solutions
Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors and other team members
Apply efficient and dependable cost control techniques and strategies
Oversee cash flow and provide regular financial updates to stakeholders
Set up systems for cost reporting to efficiently track and control project expenses
Direct negotiation efforts and mediate disagreements toward collaborative outcomes
Enforce compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices
Conduct detailed cost analyses and thorough feasibility studies for proposed projects
Attend project meetings, offering expert guidance and insights on cost-related matters
Manage and oversee project expenditures, ensuring they align with budgetary constraints
Maintain up to date, precise records of all financial transactions and project documentation
Supervise the financial effects of design modifications and negotiate any necessary revisions
Collaborate closely with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and contractors
Create cost plans and forecasts to ensure efficient budget management throughout the project lifecycle
Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and budgets for the project and integrate them into the planning phase
Complete financial reconciliations and preserve supporting documentation to ensure seamless project closure
Monitor cost and financial risks related to the project and apply strategies to address and mitigate potential issues
Negotiate and secure contract agreements with contractors and suppliers in accordance with project scope and budget
Maintain strict alignment with contractual commitments and project specifications, ensuring seamless delivery in line with client expectations
