Company Overview

Our client is a well-established, privately owned Tier 2 civil engineering contractor with a strong national presence and an excellent reputation for delivering complex infrastructure and industrial projects. Due to continued growth and a secured pipeline of work, they are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee major schemes within the North East region.

The Role

The Contracts Manager will take full operational responsibility for three major industrial civil engineering schemes, working closely with senior leadership and reporting into the Regional Director.

This is a key strategic hire, with a clear pathway toward senior regional leadership for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee multiple live civil engineering projects simultaneously

Lead and manage Site Managers, Engineers, and commercial teams

Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards

Maintain and develop strong client and stakeholder relationships

Provide strategic input during pre-construction and tender stages

Monitor programme performance and resource allocation

Drive health, safety, environmental and quality standards across all sites

Report regularly to senior leadership on project performance

Requirements

Proven experience operating as a Contracts Manager within heavy civils

Strong background in industrial, infrastructure, or large-scale groundwork schemes

Demonstrated leadership across multiple projects concurrently

Commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets and CVRs

Excellent client-facing and communication skills

SMSTS and relevant industry qualifications
