An urgent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Web Content Designer to support a local authority during a critical pre-election period. This is a fast-paced, short-term engagement focused on ensuring all digital content, intranet pages, and user journeys are accurate, accessible, and aligned to best practice standards ahead of upcoming elections.

You will play a key role in reviewing, redesigning, and publishing content across the council's digital estate, ensuring services are clear, user-focused, and accessible.
Working across multiple service areas, you'll translate complex processes into intuitive digital journeys and high-quality content aligned to Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.

Key Responsibilities
Audit, review, write, and publish content across intranet (SharePoint) and website (Drupal)
Redesign and optimise digital forms (e-forms) aligned to GDS design principles
Translate service requirements into clear, user-centred content and journeys
Apply plain English and WCAG accessibility standards across all outputs
Use user research, analytics, and stakeholder input to inform content decisions
Simplify complex policies and processes into clear, usable digital experiences
Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to improve digital services
Support delivery across multiple concurrent projects within tight deadlinesKey Skills & Experience:

Strong background in content design for digital services (public sector highly desirable)
Proven experience conducting large-scale content audits and redesigns
Experience designing digital forms (e-forms) aligned to GDS standards
Strong understanding of user-centred design principles
Experience with CMS platforms, ideally SharePoint and Drupal
Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards
Ability to translate complex information into clear, user-focused content
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
Comfortable working at pace and managing multiple priorities
