Pay: £420 - £445 per week
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Type: Full-time (term time only)

We're looking for a caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic Primary SEN school in East Birmingham. You'll be working closely with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans)—supporting them in school and helping them feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

What the Role Involves:

You'll be working alongside experienced teachers and support staff to:

Give one-to-one and small group support to children with autism

Help create a calm and structured classroom where pupils feel comfortable

Support with learning activities, emotional regulation, and communication

Be a positive role model, encouraging confidence and independence

Work closely with the wider team to make sure each child gets the help they need

Who This Is Perfect For:

This role is great if you:

Want hands-on experience before going into psychology, mental health, therapy, SEN teaching, or youth work

Are a graduate in something like psychology, education, or social work—or just have a passion for helping kids

Have experience working with children or young people (in schools, youth groups, care work, etc.)

Are calm under pressure, kind, and able to build trust with pupils who might find school challenging

What You'll Need:

A positive, caring attitude and a real interest in SEN or mental health

Good communication and teamworking skills

A willingness to get stuck in and learn on the job

A Child DBS on the Update Service (or be happy to apply for one)
