Night Support Worker (Intensive Needs)LewishamYoung People Support3 Months35 Hours Per Week£17.76 LTD / £15.24 PAYE (inc hol)Support vulnerable young people overnight in a high-needs supported housing unit in Lewisham, making a lasting impact on their journey towards independence.THE ROLEWe are recruiting for a compassionate and proactive Night Support Worker to join a respected national charity in their intensive needs service in SE14. Supporting young people aged 16–21, including those at risk of homelessness and care leavers, you will play a vital role in ensuring safety, emotional wellbeing, and skill development during night shifts.
  • Provide overnight trauma-informed support to young residents aged 16–21
  • Deliver face-to-face emotional and practical guidance during quiet hours
  • Support residents with developing life skills such as budgeting and cooking
  • Conduct regular property checks and manage any urgent maintenance issues
  • Assist with benefit applications and support young people to attend appointments
  • Monitor rent payments and follow procedures for addressing arrears
  • Respond to safeguarding concerns with professionalism and urgency
THE CANDIDATEThe ideal candidate will have experience working with young people in supported accommodation or similar settings, particularly during lone night shifts.
  • Previous experience supporting vulnerable young people or care leavers
  • Confident working alone overnight and managing incidents calmly
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed care
  • Excellent communication and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to foster independence and engage young people in meaningful support
THE CONTRACT
  • Full Time – 35 hours per week
  • Shift pattern: 20:15 – 07:45, including some weekend work based on rota3-month temporary contract with potential to become permanent
  • The pay for the role is £17.76 per hour LTD. The PAYE equivalent is £15.24 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay.
