JOB TYPE: Permanent, FullTime

Mainline Employment are looking for an Assistant Transport Controller for a a temp to perm contract in a well-established Logistics Company, based in Swindon.

Main Responsibilities:

* To assist with the planning and coordinating of the organisation's transport operations, ensuring the efficient running of the transport office and ensuring a full shift handover is completed with previous shift.

* To work closely with the Transport staff to drive improvement in key efficiencies, as well as continuously striving to improve safety and driving standards and assist with the monitoring of the daily operational plan/ ensuring the departure and arrival schedule is kept up to date and control/inform drivers for infringements.

* Complete daily briefings and de-briefing of drivers and obtaining all paperwork correctly including

* Ensuring all company processes and procedures are carried out.

* Ensure all drivers complete daily pre-shift inspections (vehicle checks) and that all relevant information is properly recorded and make sure drivers report all defects, damages and accidents, ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed as necessary. Report all findings to the Transport Manager.

* Ensure all office administration is completed in an accurate and timely manner.

* Assist in facilitating the maintenance of the fleet, ensuring all drivers keep their vehicles clean and tidy. Ensure all vehicles and trailers are ready for their service and MOT's.

* Conduct return to work interviews and help the Transport team and HR department manage issues relating to employee absence and monitoring drivers performance and reporting to management

* Complete induction paperwork for temporary workers

* Enforce safe and clean working practices and ensure all company health and safety procedures are adhered to by all staff.

About You

* Be a strong team player with the ability to inspire confidence and credibility
* Experience of working in a fast paced environment and able to work under pressure and lead by example
* Be flexible in approach to your shifts and cover each other in times of absence / holidays
* Flexible approach to work
* Computer Literate
* Good organisational and communications skills
* Competent IT abilities

Hours of Work - 10:00-18:30 with flexibility to cover holiday and sickness on the early and late shift.

Salary - £25,568
