SAIC is currently looking for information technology professionals who are interested in supporting the Air Force National Capital Region Information Technology Services (AF NCR ITS) as technical, logistics, and subject matter experts (SMEs).
The AF NCR ITS Team will provide professional, administrative, technical, logistics, and management support for the U.S. Air Force's 844th Communications Group (844 CG) as the service provider to the Air Force District of Washington AFDW. For the AFDW and Air Force units throughout the NCR, the 844 CG mission includes supporting and providing input for accomplishing the programming, budgeting, financing, implementation, operations, support, and maintenance of assigned technology systems, including critical support for the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force and elements of the Headquarters, U.S. Air Force. Support requires work to have work performed at Joint Base Andrews (Andrews AFB) in Maryland.
This specific position will support the National Military Command Center (NMCC) Configuration Management (CM) team. CM roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, system administration to VISIONAEL or other CM gathering tools approved by the NC3 community, configuration management and control of the NMCC internally controlled Configuration Identification (CI) items, and configuration management and drawings of all Appendix E, NMCC Systems. Accurate and complete CI is essential as components cannot be effectively managed unless its configuration is identified at an appropriate level. The contractors will follow policies and procedures, to provide the necessary details to identify and apply unique identifiers to the configuration item units that make up the NMCC system of systems infrastructure and environment. These CI's will include hardware, Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) software and Government-off-the Shelf (GOTS) software. As the execution arm of the Air Force in our role as the Executive Agent, we are required to capture 100% of what is connected to the wall plate and column boxes.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Develops and maintains software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed software and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products. Performs configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable. Designs, develops, automates, and maintains productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development. Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support software product development and use. May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use. May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards. Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee). Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience.
