An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Land Charges Officer for a local authority based in Torquay. The role is for a Temporary  term of up to 12 months and offers a competitive salary. 

Ideally we they are looking for someone with experience of working in Land Charges but will consider any relevant experience as training can be given

This position is office based full time 37 hours per week

Responsibilities will involve:-

Checking Official Search applications to verify that all the details on the search are correct and that the correct fee is paid

Process applications for Official Searches of the Local Land Charges Register and Enquiries of the Local Authority; undertake the search; examine and interpret the Planning Register and the Local Land Charges Register; examine the Ordnance Survey maps for location purposes and liaise with other departments/external bodies as necessary

Inputting data onto the computer to produce Official Certificate of Search, replies to Enquiries of Local Authorities, Personal Searches and CON29 enquiries via the Environmental Information Regulations 2004

Receiving, recording and passing payments in respect of the above searches and enquiries to Finances Services

To fulfil the statutory duties of the Council in connection with maintenance and updating of the 12 Parts of the Local Land Charges Register

Ensure that all records are accurately maintained and kept up to date

Ensure that new planning decisions, section 106 agreements, section 38 agreements, tree protection orders, any conservation areas, road widening schemes and special control areas are accurately recorded upon the Local Land Charges Register

To make effective use of information technology and act as systems administrator for the computer systems dealing with the provision of personal and official searches of the Register of Local Land Charges, requests for replies to Enquiries of Local Authorities and all associated enquiries
