SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary Schools across Thurrock, Essex

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work in primary schools throughout Thurrock, Essex. These roles offer a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with special educational needs (SEN), helping them access learning in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and other professionals to support children who may have autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, speech and language needs, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Your role may involve working on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, adapting support to meet individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Support learning activities in and outside the classroom

Provide tailored 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEN

Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies

Promote pupil independence, confidence, and social development

Contribute to planning and monitoring progress with teaching staff

Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies

Communicate effectively with teachers, therapists, and parents/carers

Follow safeguarding and inclusion policies at all times

What We're Looking For:

Experience working with children or young people, ideally those with SEN

A calm, patient, and supportive approach

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Willingness to assist with personal care if required

Commitment to promoting equality, inclusion, and a positive learning environment
