SEN Teaching Assistant

Full-time | Term-time only | ASAP Start

We are looking for a patient, committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs in a warm, inclusive school setting. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners who require additional support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, global delay, SEMH and learning difficulties.
  • Assist the class teacher in adapting resources and learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to help boost confidence, independence and emotional regulation.
  • Implement behaviour support plans and cater for sensory, communication or mobility needs.
  • Help create a safe, structured and nurturing environment where pupils can thrive.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and support staff to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
  • Contribute to progress reports and pupil observations as required.

About You

  • Experience working with children with SEN (school, care, youth work or similar).
  • A calm, empathetic and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Passionate about supporting children’s emotional, social and academic development.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
