We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Health & Safety Adviser to lead and enhance health and safety practices within the property, contracts, and trades sectors of a dynamic public sector organisation. This pivotal role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety management systems, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities, and fostering a culture of safety across diverse departments.

You will work closely across various departments, providing specialist health and safety advice to the Council's Housing functions and schools operating under service level agreements. The role offers a unique opportunity to refine your people management skills, contribute to service improvement and support a dynamic and proactive Health and Safety team.

Key Responsibilities
·Lead the development and promotion of health and safety policies and procedures.
·Monitor and review health and safety management systems to ensure effectiveness.
·Provide expert advice and support to various departments, including housing, trades, construction, and capital projects.
·Collaborate with professionals across the organisation to promote a cohesive approach to health and safety.
·Mentor and support health and safety advisers within the team, fostering professional growth and development.

About You
·NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) and GradIOSH (or equivalent professional membership).
·Proven experience providing competent health and safety advice in the public sector or a large multi-site organisation.
·Strong experience in line management, with examples of overcoming challenges and delivering positive results.
·A comprehensive knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and best practice.
·Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
·Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
·High level of professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
·Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
 ·Housing Experience is beneficial
