Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Panama Shift Pattern

Job Summary

  • Salary: £48,985 (including shift allowance)
  • Market Rate Allowance: £6,000 (post-observations)
  • Total Earnings: £54,985 + up to 10% bonus (OTE £60,843)

Responsibilities

  • Perform both reactive and proactive maintenance tasks, including VIM, VAR, and ESR furnaces.
  • Diagnose mechanical system problems and plant faults accurately.
  • Develop, create, and implement PPM schedules to maximize machine availability.
  • Record daily activities and create work orders within CMMS (Pirana), using the system for fault diagnosis.
  • Attend and contribute to daily and weekly planned maintenance meetings and plant priority reviews.
  • Identify, specify, and order critical parts using the company’s system.
  • Control and improve critical spares requirements.
  • Ensure all required parts are booked out correctly and recorded as necessary.
  • Collaborate with specialist OEM service engineers when required.
  • Facilitate lean working methods to minimize waste and maximize efficiency, ensuring departmental objectives are met.
  • Participate in training and upskilling activities to maintain and improve site and technical knowledge.
  • Perform safety and quality risk assessments.
  • Adhere to standard safe practices, procedures, environmental, and legislative requirements.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Some electrical experience/qualification or willingness to undertake electrical cross-skilling training.
  • Experience with furnace mechanics and control systems is advantageous.
  • Experience with furnace vacuum systems or vacuum technologies is advantageous.
  • Demonstrable experience in a medium to heavy manufacturing environment (applicants from other industries considered).
  • Essential fault-finding and problem-solving skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
