Job description - Graduate Operations Analyst As a Graduate Operations Analyst, you'll have direct exposure to handling the commercial operations of vessels trading within our West Africa-focused fleet. This will involve reliably and efficiently coordinating with our ship master's, charterers (consisting of oil majors and major trading houses) and internal stakeholders, such as the chartering team. This is a fast-paced roll based in London and will involve some out of hours work. We are looking for fast learners and driven individuals who are passionate about entering the fascinating world of commercial shipping.
Key responsibilities - Graduate Operations AnalystIn this Junior Commercial Operator role, you will be:
- Respond to the Chartering department, providing input/data necessary for potential fixtures
- Manage the ship's commercial trading through voyage planning consistent with port/terminal and regulatory restrictions
- Review and provide the Master with appropriate voyage orders, port information and any applicable restrictions within the port
- Ensure that the ship and voyage operation complies with the operational aspects of the voyage charter parties
- Manage freight, hire and other miscellaneous invoice generation and follow up / hand-over to the claims team as appropriate
- Be physically present five days a week in our London HQ
- Be available outside of regular office hours as required by the demands of the role, as would be expected in any commercial shipping role
- Be able to function autonomously without direct supervision of the line manager for routine or standard operational requirements, following the induction period
Job requirements - Graduate Operations Analyst - A 2:1 university degree
- Attention to detail, meticulousness and numeracy skills
- Teamworking mentality and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Availability to manage critical out-of-hours issues
- A clear communicator with the client at the forefront of their mind
- Awareness that the job may require after-hours and/or weekend attention
- Capable of working as a proactive self-starter, with a resilient mindset to challenges and adversity, with a drive to succeed
- Excellent time management skills to efficiently navigate the demands of the role
- Proficient with using the Microsoft suite: Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint (Power BI skills are advantageous)
