The Role:

As an Accountant in our Finance Reporting team you will contribute to the achievement of the vision for Finance. The team is responsible for the coordination and review of group reporting, financial statements and Solvency II reporting. We liaise with a number of other teams across the business.

Experienced Colleague:

  • Accountable for providing a quality service or product to customers and stakeholders, using skills/experience built through significant practical experience or training
  • For team leaders, accountable for ensuring the team the role supports is delivering a quality service or product
  • Works within established frameworks and procedures, with the freedom to interpret them to solve a range of problems
  • Delivers outputs that are clearly defined, using discretion over how to achieve them
  • Makes suggestions for improvements to the work of the team, based on previous experience and knowledge of similar situations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for delivering a quality service and product to customers and stakeholders
  • Focuses on quality of delivery to achieve clear outputs within guidelines and precedent
  • Runs the organisation's processes and systems following pre-defined procedures
  • Adapts to change, responds with initiative and make suggestions for improvements to own work and processes
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&G's operational risk.
  • Providing guidance and ensuring appropriate accounting practices are adopted in the production of financial information
  • Providing technical expertise to design technical solutions as part of change projects within Finance where required
  • Assisting with the planning and coordination of our financial reporting across a number of teams, together with review of results. The team is the key link between Group Finance and finance reporting teams across the UK business
  • Producing and being accountable for the technical accuracy of financial information to support production of IFRS results and UK GAAP statutory accounts, Solvency II results and reporting templates
  • Carrying out accounting processes and controls to ensure the accurate production of information and document work performed to ensure appropriate audit trials are maintained.

You will have:

  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload
  • High level of numeracy and literacy (Essential and desirable)
  • Fully proficient with MS Excel & Word
  • Good team player
  • Ability to work on your own initiative
  • Previous experience within financial services is desirable but not essential
  • A desire to learn and an interest in potential studies
  • Flexible and adaptable

Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA or CIMA)
