REED Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a leading Engineering & Manufacturing company with a niche product.
QHSE Manager:
Key Responsibilities
1. Integrated Management System (IMS) Management
- Develop, maintain, and continually improve the company’s Integrated Management System aligned to:
- ISO 9001 (Quality Management)
- ISO 14001 (Environmental Management)
- ISO 45001 (Health & Safety Management)
- Coordinate certification audits and ensure all standards are met or exceeded.
2. Safety Leadership & Compliance
- Lead the site’s Health & Safety strategy and champion a proactive safety culture.
- Conduct and manage risk assessments including COSHH, PUWER, and LOLER.
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure full compliance with UK HSE legislation, internal policies, and industry best practices.
3. Quality Assurance & Control (QA/QC)
- Oversee QA/QC activities for welding, fabrication, and machining operations.
- Review and approve Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
- Ensure adherence to relevant welding standards and materials specifications.
4. Audit & Certification
- Plan, manage, and conduct:
- Internal QHSE audits
- Supplier audits
- External certification/accreditation audits
- Monitor corrective and preventive action (CAPA) effectiveness.
5. Culture & Training
- Drive behavioural safety initiatives and lead toolbox talks.
- Deliver QHSE training programs across the organisation.
- Empower teams to take ownership of quality and safety within their work areas.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Manage and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Conduct structured root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys, Ishikawa, and 8D.
- Report and analyse QHSE performance indicators, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
7. Operational Support
- Support project and engineering teams with method statements, quality documentation, and site compliance requirements.
- Provide practical guidance to ensure safe and high-quality execution of on-site activities.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Desirable
- Proven experience as a QHSE Manager within heavy manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial engineering.
- Strong technical background in welding processes, metallurgy, or fabrication standards.
- Demonstrable knowledge of UK Health & Safety regulations and compliance obligations.
- Experience maintaining certification to ISO , and 45001.
- Hands-on experience conducting audits, incident investigations, and delivering QHSE training.
